What we know, and what we don’t.

YappyHour is operated by Runtime LLC, a one-person company. “We” in this policy means Runtime LLC. “You” means anyone using the YappyHour iOS app or yappyhournow.com.

YappyHour shows which bars and restaurants are pouring happy-hour deals right now, with prices and a countdown to last call. The product is venue data. Personal data is the small amount needed to run it, and it is all listed below.

Here is the full inventory. If it is not in this table, we do not collect it.

Account (optional)

If you sign in with Apple, Google, or an emailed magic link, we store your email address and, for Apple and Google sign-in, the name the provider returns. Browsing the board never requires an account.

Profile

Our database stores your user id, username, base city, and premium/purchase status fields. Purchases are currently disabled, so those fields sit unused.

Analytics events

A small, fixed list: venue opened, city switched, search performed (this includes the text of your search), map opened, directions tapped, spot submitted, push permission result, and app-store or call-to-action clicks. Every event carries the current city and an anonymous per-device or per-browser id, never your account.

Crash reports

iOS app only. Crash stack traces, breadcrumbs, navigation traces, and device and OS info go to our crash-reporting provider. Your name and email are never attached to a crash report.

Location

Foreground only, and only if you allow it. Your coordinates are sent with a nearby-venues request to sort spots by distance, then discarded. They are not stored in our database and not linked to your account.

Push token

If you enable notifications, we store a push token along with your platform and OS version. It is linked to your account while you are signed in and unlinked when you sign out.

Things you submit

Spot submissions (a photo plus the venue name or place id), menu photos, venue ratings, saved favorites, venue issue reports, and city requests. City requests record an anonymous per-install device identifier. Photos are held in secure cloud storage.

• To run the board: show live deals, sort venues by distance, and publish deals extracted from submitted menu photos.
• To operate your account: sign you in, remember your username and base city, and deliver the push notifications you asked for.
• To improve the product: anonymous usage counts tell us which cities, venues, and features people actually use.
• To keep the board accurate: a human reviews every submission and report, and may email you to follow up on one.

That is the whole list. Nothing here feeds advertising, profiling, or resale. The data does what a live happy-hour board needs and nothing else.

If Runtime LLC were ever acquired, your data would transfer with the service, and this policy would still bind whoever holds it.

The app asks for location permission only while you are using it, and only so it can sort venues by how far away they are. If you decline, everything still works; you pick a city by hand instead.

We collect a small amount of usage analytics in both the app and the website, through a third-party analytics provider hosted in the United States. We do not record your screen, and we do not automatically capture every tap. Events are tied to an anonymous per-device or per-browser id rather than to you or your account, even when you are signed in.

Like most analytics services, our provider receives the IP address of each request by default and derives coarse, city-level location from it. Search events include the query text you typed, so avoid typing anything personal into the search box if that concerns you.

The iOS app also sends crash reports to a crash-reporting provider: stack traces, breadcrumbs, navigation traces, and device and OS details. We never attach your name or email to a crash report. The website does not send crash reports at all.

You can add a spot (a photo plus the venue’s name or place id), upload a menu photo, rate a venue, save a venue to favorites, report a problem with a venue, or ask us to add your city. Photos are held in secure cloud storage. Menu photos are read to extract deal prices, and approved deals are published on the public board as venue data.

One thing to know before you submit: when you add a new spot or upload a menu photo, an alert is posted to our private internal team chat so a human can review it, and that alert includes your account’s email address so we can follow up with you about the submission. That chat is internal and not publicly visible, but your email does pass through the chat provider’s servers as part of the alert.

• Permissions: location and notifications are both optional and both controlled in your device settings. Turn either off and the app keeps working.
• Analytics: events are never tied to your account. On the web, clearing the site’s cookies and storage resets your anonymous analytics id.
• Push: disable notifications any time in settings. Signing out unlinks your push token from your account.
• Delete your account: the in-app delete removes your account and your profile, and it is not reversible. Content you submitted to the public board — menu photos, and the deals we read from them — stays, because that is venue data rather than data about you. If the delete does not go through, email us and we will finish it by hand.
• Everything else: email paul@madebyruntime.com for access, correction, deletion, or any question this page did not answer.

Depending on where you live, laws like the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA/CPRA in California give you the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, and have it deleted. Email paul@madebyruntime.com and we will honor those requests regardless of where you live, without making you prove residency first. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no sale or sharing to opt out of. We will never treat you worse for exercising a privacy right.

• Account and profile: kept while your account exists, deleted when you delete it.
• Push tokens: unlinked from your account when you sign out.
• Location: never stored, so there is nothing to retain.
• Submissions: photos stay in storage, and approved deals stay on the public board, since the board is the product. Deals published there are venue data, not personal data.
• Analytics and crash data: held by our analytics and crash-reporting providers under their standard retention periods.

Everything moves over HTTPS. Data at rest lives with our service providers, each with its own security program and access controls, and access on our side is limited to the one person who runs the company. No system is perfectly secure, but the strongest protection here is structural: we hold very little about you in the first place.

YappyHour is about happy hours, which is to say alcohol. It carries a 17+ App Store rating, it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email paul@madebyruntime.com and we will delete it.

When this policy changes in substance, we update the date at the top of this page. For changes that meaningfully affect what we collect or share, we will also say so in the app. The current version always lives at this address.
